Community groups are being urged to attend an open meeting looking at ways of developing an innovative new health project in Haverhill.

ONE Haverhill Partnership are developing a social prescribing project exclusively for the town – whereby GPs and other services can refer individuals to local groups, clubs or activities as an alternative to medical intervention.

They are now looking for anyone involved in community activities or hobby groups to attend a drop-in open meeting to learn more about the project.

Representatives from One Haverhill Partnership will be in the Arts Centre studio from 10am - 6pm on Monday 20th March.

Anyone can drop in throughout the day for a cup of tea and some cake and find out how to get involved in this exciting project.

What is social prescribing?

The Kings Fund describes it as: "Social prescribing, sometimes referred to as community referral, is a means of enabling GPs, nurses and other primary care professionals to refer people to a range of local, non-clinical services."
